Shocking accident.

Last Friday was the most 'suay' day in my whole entire life!

I met with an accident after doing OT and meeting my ex-colleague to a facial appointment which has been delayed due to our OT.

I was hit by a van.

While crossing the road between South Bridge Road and North Canal Road towards somewhere near Hong Lim Park, a van turned from my right and knocked into me. It was green man by then, and I was telling my colleague "Hey, green man! Let's go!"

My usual traffic practice is to look out for cars which dashed through the red light or are there cars turning from my side. I'm certainly that there is not a single car turning and so I took a few steps out. But without giving me time to realise that there's a fast moving van turning towards me, I was already sitting on the ground.

I guess at that time, I already got a major shock! I only could remember something hit me, heard my colleague calling out my name, I sat on the middle of the road with my butt hurting. The next thing when I opened my eyes, I looked at the sky. I couldn't focus. I saw lights from a vehicle next to me (the vehicle that hit me). I saw a lot of people but my eyes could not focus, so I immediately closed my eyes.

I heard alot of noises. I heard things like "Are you OK?", "Somebody faster call ambulance", "Check she got any injuries"

I was like fainting.

I sat on the road for like 5-10 seconds. I said that I wanted to stand up, but I felt giddy. A few people helped me up. I saw a foreigner.... then I closed my eyes again. My head is spinning. At that moment, I thought what's happening??? Is it very serious??? I don't feel any pain but onlt giddy. I couldn't stand upright, my legs were like jelly.

Someone asked me if I need water and offered me. Someone wanted to put some water on my head. Someone...... I can't really remember.

The very next thing is I got a chair to sit. Perhaps someone got it for me. There were ladies around, checking my injuries. 2 were Mcdonalds staff I guess. At that time, I already regained my consciousness. I was able to speak to them. My colleague was talking to the one who knocked me down, and the passengers on that vehicle.

After my colleague negotiated with the driver and his passengers, we waited for the ambulance. I can see the worried faces of the one who knocked me down and his passengers who asked me better to get a medical checkup at the hospital. But I didn't realise that they were malaysians and shouldn't have let them go 1st. What if I can't find them? But at that moment, how to think that far?

So the ambulance came, and my colleague waved to them to indicate our location. I think the driver cockeye! They turned in the direction of Hong Lim Park instead.

I was like -_-"

Then we waited again see if the ambulance will come back. I was thinking if this is a serious accident and if I got serious injuries.... I think I might not able to survive at the speed of the ambulance arriving.

Luckily it came.

The paramedics checked me and asked if I want to go for a checkup. My colleague urged me better to get a check in case there's internal injuries. So we sat in the ambulance and off to the nearest hospital.

In the ambulance, the paramedic kept talking to me, asking me to repeat the whole accident, checked my blood pressure, and checked my consciousness.

It drove so fast that the paramedic scared that I will fell from my seat.

Reached the hospital, was given a trolley to lie on and pushed into the A&E. It's so dramatic! Everything becomes so unreal! Along the way when they pushed me in, it's like what they showed in the drama serial, I was damn scared that what will the doctor do to me? Although I know I won't die! Hahaha...

My colleague was so scared! But she reassured me that she will wait for me outside.

The doctor asked me to repeat the whole accident again and checked on my joints. Nothing's wrong. No medication needed and of course no MC as the next day is already weekends.

After that, I was required to do a registration and payment. I was discussing with my colleague if I need to file a police report as beforehand, the paramedic and doctor who attended to me advised me to file. Before the driver who knocked me down left, he told us if we could settle this privately and not to file police report. I was in dilemma. What if they really run away and could not be contacted? I will be the 1 who lose out ultimately.

As we queued, the man before us who must have overheard our conversation, turned to us and advised us to file police report too. And he stressed that it's a MUST. I sensed the seriousness. Got a call from another colleague who was actually waiting for us at the facial there. She also advised me to file a report against the driver as we have their contact number and car plate number. I told her I was in dilemma and she say MUST FILE. Again I sensed the seriousness.

You must have wondered why I did not mention about my family? Why did I not seek for their help? I mean.... if you suddenly called back and told them a vehicle knocked you down, ut no injuries, will they believe you? Sure enough they will rush all the way to the hospital immediately. So I called home after I was done with the police report.

***My bro answered the phone, but talking to him is like talking to the wall one lah. He must be dumbfounded if I told him that. So I asked him to get my mum on the phone. I told my mum I'm in A&E now as I met with an accident. She was shocked. She said "Huh? What happen?" I said I was being knocked down by a van and was sent to the A&E by a ambulance. She was like in silence. I know she couldn't accept the truth and was in shock state. I assured her that I don't have a single scratch or what and was perfectly ok! She was like in a reprimanding tone saying why I waited till now then called home and should have asked my friend to call home or what. Then I told her How To?? Time doesn't allow me to speak more than 2 words to my colleague. I was immediately pushed in after I reached the hospital. I couldn't use my phone in that A&E too right?***

So we went to the mini police post in the A&E to file a police report. While I personally think that the policeman is STUPID!

He tried to side police and said that they will track down the vehicle as it's a foreign vehicle. He said once I filed a report, I couldn't seek compensation from the other party. The police also couldn't do anything to the foreign vehicle/driver in accordance to law, which later, he called the traffic police and say actually can. What the???? Contradicting response?!

I start to think that actually by filing a report doesn't mean that I can get my medical fees claimed unless I filed a civil lawsuit which I gotta pay for the law fees and blah blah.....

So for now, I gotta tracked the driver by myself and asked for damages on my own by calling on their handphone no. which they given us. Alas.....

My colleague actually helped me to contact the driver and was told that he's wiling to pay us back on Monday. Let's see how then.

But for those who concerned me, I'm perfectly ok! I guess it's a fortune within the misfortune. I count myself lucky that although I was being knocked but can you imagine I wasn't found to have any injuries or a single scratch? Maybe, I'm being surrounded by guardian angels. Being protected by all deities and gods.

Thanks to all passerbys who show that moment concern to me. Thanks to the one who called the ambulance and returned the call to my colleague to see if I'm fine. I guess there are still good good samatarians in Singapore.
