9th day of CNY

A small write up and pictures.... (for educating traditions purpose)

It's the Hokkien Tradition that on the 8th day of CNY exactly at 12am...(also 9th day of CNY) that they got to pray to Tee-Gong (天 公 ). Don't ask me why.... cos' I don't know...LOLz

My granny said that it's quite troublesome to prepare all those stuff for the praying... so this may be the last year to have it at home. But who knows??? I don't know....

2nd day of CNY 年 初 二
My cousins still have not send me those photos.... I don't know what she's doing lah... rah.... Anyways.... I got mine!

Girls IN! Guys OUT!

Yes...they are my cousins and the eldest one who positioned in front of me, is the same age as my bro (7 years younger than me) well... need-less to say that the other is much younger than me.... 1 of them is 10 years younger than me.... AHhhhhhh.... Suddenly I feel VERY OLD!

Hmmm.... we went to the playground to play those sparkers.... and the younger ones (1 aged 7 and his bro ,9) went running around like mad! Yes! I do mean they are really 'mad'! I don't know why young kids are so energetic man~ They can run and run... and when they asked me to chase after them.... I was like uh-hum...... panting.... I gotta admit I'm old. Anyway, I'm like 15 or 17 years older than the 2 kiddos. Ahhh...... I'm revealing my age again.... can see how OLD I am.

I'm so tired looking after the 2, and so I left them running around with my other 2 male young cousins while I just sat with my girl cousins. They just popped up a question:" Do you have a boyfriend?"

WHAT THE!!!!!

Yah... they are teenage girls and it's time to discuss such issues lah..... but hor.... how should I reply huh? Earlier on, when we are still at my uncle's house, my 4th aunt also popped this question to me. OMG! Why???

NO!

And they will continue saying YES wor~~~

I say NO!

They will say I lie/hide to/from them wor~~~

So how to answer? You tell me!

I have or not also not an issue anymore! The answer they want is a YES! And they will start saying things like "Next time must bring him come hor.... don't hide hor...."

Why huh? Why???

I always thought that when in a relationship, that concerns you and your partner.... how come now not only 3rd party but many parties???? Machiam it's a MUST to let them know. Okay if say they want to share your happiness, how they know that you are really happy???? And also you will see them like once or twice a year???

To clear things out, I guess if I'm in a relationship or not, I shall not disclose it. Hmmm closest friend huh.... I shall see lah.



3rd day of CNY 年 初 三
Frankly speaking, I can't remember what I did on that day.... Haha...except Mahjong!!!

Yes... I played mahjong.... I think I will only lose money one leh..... my concentration level is bad! Always kena distracted... tsk tsk...

ok lah... we only play 20 cents ,40 cents... ar boh... I sure bankrupt one.



感想 : Everyone has grown up/old. I wonder if the tradition of visiting the elders will carry on to our generation? I don't know... I don't really like New Year... so I can't comment on anything.

Yah....Very RED! Got those 喜 气 洋 洋 feel. All deco hung up by mama, lanterns made by mama, fire crackers featuring my toot toot bro posing with a reddy cushion.


CNY Eve--Reunion Dinner 团 圆 饭
Earlier we bought a new steamboat which comes with the Tepanyakki function.... and WhhoooooO.....

We got marvellous BBQ squid, meat.... blah blah.... I even put the crab meat stick,satay, mini taiwan sausage... yummy!

This year, we prepared lesser food... cos last year's was such a waste! We overestimated the amount of food for steamboat and we were sick of the food for a long period after CNY.

We still continue our "tradition" of staying up late (守 岁) till the 1st day of CNY 年 初 一 . It is believed that 守 岁 can bring good health for our parents and the elderly at home. Well, for us... we watched TV lah! Hahaha.... Then we countdown. The atmosphere is damn good! Cos' there are people playing those 烟 花 at the void deck... kind of 热 闹 , got 新 年 气 氛 . Plus, our dad and granny very kiasu one, they gave us ANGBAO 1st.... cos they say gotta put under our pillow-- blah.... 压 岁 钱 啦 ! I mean 守 岁 and 压 岁 are supposed to make us feel younger? look younger? or think younger? Hahahaha.... I don't know... I'm not a very traditional or chee-na person.

1st day of CNY 年 初 一

Me and my bro woke up very early.... 1st is to take 2 mandarin oranges and wish our granny 新 年 快 乐 and good health. Followed, my mama will give us ANGBAO! Nah... don't know why she must wait till 年 初 一 then give us.... unlike my dad and granny.

The 1st family to come to my house is my granny's brother. He's around my dad's age and have children around my age too. In the past, they used to compare me with his son who is the age as me (he participated in that channel 8's 校 花 校 草 programme where he norminated himself but end up his vasity did not vote for him). I hate that! What's to compare??? So after I went to college, I hide from them. Not saying I'm rude lah, but I hid in my parents' room to watch TV while they all sit in the living and chat.

This year, I and my bro thought of hiding at Mac..... Haha.... damn stupid act of us. I miscalculated the timing lah! Okay... it's my fault. In every previous years, they will come at around 10 or 11 plus. So we went to have our breakfast at 10am.

Yep when we went home, they have still not arrived. OMG....

To digress abit....

At Mac, while my bro was buying food, I saw a "couple"....
Erm.... gays (i presumed)
One of them was like suddenly shouted very loud at the other party. I think he's eating Big Breakfast or Hotcakes, with the plastic knife in his hand, he pointed at his partner and shouted at him. VERY LOUDLY! Then I think his partner quiet him down, he began to continue scolding...... scold scold scold..... sometimes raise up his voice, sometimes softens.... what did the partner do???
He continued eating.... head down.... not saying a word.
Poor thing!

Ok back to the topic. I end up hiding in the room ,reading magazine and drinking 红 枣 茶 (brewed by my granny).

Then when they went back, we start our mahjong session!
Yay!!!! I won!!!! But only a few cents lah.... cos' not long, my 2 aunties and cousins came over to visit my relative liao.... But very fun lor!!!! Play mahjong!!!!

At my relative's house

Rah... I'm the only one who wore short skirt. And I got bitten by some insects after sitting on the chair for not more than 5 mins. Rah..... got scars till now leh! Tsk! Then I applied some medicated oil to relief the itch.... haiz.... the house is very warm too! (Look! I'm not complaining....) Luckily i brought along my mini fan which my younger cousin snatched away from me to fan himself... arrrgggg! So we went to the corridors there to chat with my other cousins. We talked about those 冷 笑 话 , hope to stay cooler...haha..LOL!

After that, we went for our dinner! 2nd Reunion Dinner 团 圆 饭 ....heh. Uh Hum.... there're 2 younger relatives joining our table cos their parents are not having dinner with them. I think everyone feels uncomfortable when "strangers" joined us. No one is talking. Stiff atmosphere. Okay, now I feel bad. For not start the ball rolling.... cos I'm sitting beside them. But hor... they are also rude mah! There are so many elders at the table they should at least 打 招 呼 right?


We ordered the 鱼 生 and 捞 啊 捞 啊 。 。 。 。 捞 个 风 升 水 起 ~ My bro and Cousin L started giggling to themselves after eating the 鱼 生. I found it something strange.... so I started signalling to them to ask what's going on as they were sitting across me. They then SMS me to say about the 2 sitting beside me.... LOL.... it's their dressing and make up lah! Say they are like geishas.... haha.... cos one of them got those highlighted eyeshadows which makes her look like geisha. And they wear till quite scantily... erm AKA ah lian's dressing.I wanna LOL! But I can't! My another cousin F was sitting at another corner and I forwarded the SMS to her( U know just to share) She was pretty stunned! LOL.... okay... we are the little evils. And the SMS-IRC Marathorn started.

Hello? it's only the 1st dish lor... got so much things to say liao.... Who knows? Their parents changed their mind and wanted to have dinner too. So they later shifted to another table. And so we had a comfortable dinner at last. Then we eat happily and chatting non stop. LOL.

PS: My relationship with my mama can said to be 突 飞 猛 进 after the CNY. Perhaps we realised that the stupid moron is indeed 可 恶 and not worth to be in bad terms because of him. She finally sees his 真 面 目 ---So COCKY! I feel relieved that I patched up with my mama and hope the war will just end forever~

HAPPY CNY

This time really HAPPY!

That stupid moron.... haha I DID NOT SAY A SINGLE WORD TO HIM! Neither did he.... but who cares....

We went to my uncle's house in the noon.... and when we reached there, that moron was sitting at the sofa, and don't bother to wish my parents Happy New Year.... (strange enough when I asked my mum yesterday, if that moron wished her.... she said YES! Rah...... I can't be bothered lah!)

About 5-10mins later, my 4th aunt and uncle came.... that idiot jumped up from the sofa and wished them Happy New Year!

Hello??? They just see them once a year and not as close as he with my mum.... That's not the issue! Or rather... the exciting part is....


My 4th uncle (husband of my 4th aunt) asked him what's he doing now? working? He said so loudly like 怕 人 家 听 不 到 . Say he's not working at XXX but an IT FIRM! Wah.... scared people dunno..... IT FIRM!!!! As what leh??? My uncle asked further.... then he tuned down... Sales.....

AHAHAHAHAHAA........ nothing great mah??? What's so great leh??? If engineer hor... then GREAT mah.... need to announce to the whole world a not huh? Ask BBC? CNN? CNA? SNG? ahahahahahahaha.....


Well... some people like to brag.... be a well-known braggart.... Who don't know how to brag? I want to brag also can.... not saying I wanna copy.... But it's time for me to "show off" abit... cos SOMEONE discriminates me being an undergraduate....
